The scientists conducts training cum refresher programs that includes all aspects of sugarcane cultivation and production including Plant Breeding, Tissue Culture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Irrigation Water Management, Agriculture Microbiology, Pathology and Entomology. The scientists of Agriculture Science and Technology Division specially prepared training manual for the programme.
National level training programme on “Ratoon Management in Sugarcane” under 'Macro Management of Agriculture Scheme' financed by the Directorate of Sugarcane Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, New Delhi was conducted at Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Manjari (Bk.), Pune (Maharashtra) during 24th - 26th March 2009.
Master trainers viz., subject matter specialists, officers from state department of agriculture, scientists from agriculture universities, ICAR scientists, agriculture officers from sugar factories from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Goa were trained. The training was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Shivajirao Deshmukh, Director General, VSI and Dr. S. H. Shinde, Principal Scientist and Head, Crop Production Division. All the participants were very much impressed and satisfied with the training.
