VSI’s meteorological observatory has been established in the year 1984–85. Daily observations of different meteorological parameters are recorded and their effect on sugarcane crop was studied. The observations recorded during the year were compiled and were sent to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune (Simla Office). The accuracy of different instruments inspected and remarked satisfactorily by the authority of IMD. In addition to ground meteorological observatory, VSI have an automatic weather station.
The complied information of daily and monthly meteorological observations of different climatic parameters are supplied to other sections as and when required.
