The Plant Pathology and Agricultural Microbiology Section undertakes research on various aspects of sugarcane diseases and their control measures, screening of sugarcane genotypes for disease reactions and survey & isolation of efficient strains of nitrogen fixing bacteria. It is also engaged in large-scale production of bio-fertilizers and vermi-compost. The analytical and consultancy services in microbial quality of sugar, vermi-compost and bio-fertilizers are also rendered. For research, a well-equipped pathology lab was established in 1984.
