The sugarcane in Maharashtra is cultivated under varied agro-climatic zones with different management practices along with different input management. The Plant Physiology section mainly deals with exploitation of potential of sugarcane crop under circumstances as mentioned. The section works with the aim of understanding the mechanism of tolerance to abiotic stresses like moisture, salinity, nutrition in sugarcane and also identifying sugarcane genotypes tolerant to these stresses.
