The department offers Ph.D. program in Environmental Sciences from University of Pune and Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Currently 6 students are enrolled for Ph.D. in the department.
VSI provides excellent facilities to M.Sc. students, research associates as well as faculty
The department also encourages students as well as research fellows to actively engage in activities to create/ increase awareness on environment. These add-on activities are conducted periodically.
Excursions/nature trails –
The department organizes excursions for students to various national parks, areas of rich biodiversity, industries and other places of environmental interest.
Environmental awareness –
The department has participated in the National Environmental Awareness Campaign 2010 of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi. The staff and students of the department created environmental awareness amongst the students of Janata Vidyalaya, Pimpari Sandas village and prepared a biodiversity register for the area.
The students of the department work during the Ganesh festival every year for creating awareness about the pollution caused by disposal of Nirmalya into rivers and canals.
Job Opportunities
Students are placed at industries, consultancies, NGO’s, government and semi government organizations, research institutes, colleges etc.
