Alcohol Technology & Environment Science

 
The Sugar Chemistry Division mainly undertakes the developmental activities relevant to sugar and allied industries. The projects are aimed at study of relationship between sugar manufacturing process parameters and application of various process chemicals; water recovery from vapor condensate, total water chemistry involved in cogeneration boilers inclusive of pretreatment of water & cooling water and accurate methods for analysis of sugar house products as well development of certain by-products. The samples of Process Chemicals, Bagasse, Molasses, Sugar, Boiler / Feed water and Scale, Multi-nutrients are analyzed & tested periodically for variety of parameters. Equipments and sophisticated instruments including HPTLC, HPLC, CHNS analyzer and Spectrophotometers are available in the Division for analytical and testing purpose. The Division is involved in academic work, Research & Development and Extension Services.
