With the objective to develop man power in the field of sugar instrumentation engineering, the Sugar Instrumentation Department is enganged in education, teaching and training activities of the Institute. [see academics]
Regular Courses
The Sugar Instrumentation Department conducts every year Regular Post-Graduate Diploma Course (A.V.S.I course) in Sugar Instrumentation Technology (SIT) of duration 11/2 years as a part of VSI Academics. To increase the awareness about instrumentation measurement and control, the fundamentals of the process instrumentation and control by offering the instrumentation subjects are included in other Diploma and Certificate Courses namely, Sugar Technology, Industrial Fermentation & Alcohol Technology, Sugar Engineering Diploma, Sugar Engineering Certificate and Sugar Manufacture Certificate.[see course details & course contents]
Short-Term Courses To assimilate the use of instrumentation technology at all levels, Short Term Training Programs are conducted for the instrument fitters/ electricians/ instrument technicians/ chemists etc.
In every off-season Two Short Term Courses entitled “Repairs & maintenance of sugar factory instruments” and “Techniques in analytical instruments” are conducted specifically by the department. The lectures on instrumentation are taken as per the requirements for other training programs namely, Mill foreman, Boiler attendant, Fermentation & distillation process and its maintenance, Juice supervision and evaporation, Pan boiling and centrifugation.
Special Training Programs for Foreign Technical Personnel Special training programs for technical staff from foreign countries are arranged as per requirement and request.
Under this program, the department organized and provided short-term training to technical personnel from other countries namely - Ethiopia, Uganda and Vietnam.
