Sugar Engineering

The Sugar Engineering department is a pioneer in extending the services to sugar mills since 1975. The Engineers of department are providing the consultancy services and conducting need based R & D and involved in academic activities of the Institute comprising of engineering courses as well as short-term training programmes. The department is executing various activities under the able guidance of Honorable Director General.

Prominence of department in sugar industry

The department is particularly well oriented to cater the need of extension advisory services for sugar mills and co-products. The department renders services encompassing all related areas in sugar mills. It includes study, analysis and application of innovative technologies in the field of sugar engineering for energy conservation, efficient cane juice extraction and development of control philosophy. The department is active in the field of bagasse-based co-generation, spent wash incineration boiler with well-planned initiative for timely execution of green - field, modernization and expansion projects.

The appropriate guidance for various technical aspects to the sugar mills for improving the overall technical performance through the activities viz. education & training, applied R & D, extension & advisory services and technical support to state and central Government authorities is provided by the department. The department conducts regular academic courses such as a post-graduate diploma, certificate course, short-term training programmes and tailor made training programmes for sugar mills in India & outside as per their requirements.
