Sugar Engineering - Education

The department is conducting regular academic courses such as a post-graduate diploma (AVSI) for graduate engineers having a duration of one & a half years, certificate course for diploma engineers having duration of one year. Besides, a one-week short-term training program is conducted for mill fitters, boiler operators every year. One-day workshops/ seminars also conducted to give training and upgrading the technical knowledge of skilled and semi-skilled workers of sugar mills. Tailor-made training programs are conducted as per the requirement for technical staff from domestic and abroad. Under this program, the department organizes in house training and visits to modern sugar mills and equipment manufacturer works. Major achievements under education & training programme From 2014 to 2019, 63 post-graduate diploma courses, 69 certificate course students completed regular courses. In addition, 150-boiler operators and 180 mill fitters attended the short-term training program. The department also started the special training program from 2016-17 for cogen engineers. To date 59 cogen engineers completed training. Such need-based training programs arranged for students from foreign countries like Fiji, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Iran, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
